The Ark Family Counseling Center provides a range of specialized therapeutic services for children, adolescents and their families in the DeKalb and greater Atlanta area. These services include diagnostic, psychiatric, training and counseling services with behavioral and substance abuse issues. Services are generally provided in a manner to minimize the disruption of a child's school day, however, many of our services can be provided six days a week throughout the day and evening. |

Diagnostic Assessment
Assessment services are provided in the home or at the Ark Family Counseling Center. The assessment process helps evaluate a child's strengths, supports, needs, problems and helps identify and diagnose behavioral, emotional and substance problems. The assessment help shape the services and treatment a child receives from the Ark Family Counseling Center. |

Individual Counseling
Provided for children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems by therapist licensed by the state of Georgia. |

Group Counseling
Curriculum based specialized group counseling for youth and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems. The number of sessions and structure of the group is topic-specific. Examples of training groups include Anger and Emotions Managment, Communication Skills, Life Skills, Substance Abuse Therapy, Sexual Reactivity and Boundaries, Gang Activity, and Etiquette. |

Group Training
Curriculum based specialized training groups. The number of sessions and structure of the group is topic-specific. Examples of training groups include Communication Skills, Life Skills, Drug Use Prevention, Sexual Reactivity and Boundaries, and Etiquette. |

Family Counseling
Family Counseling if provided by licensed counselors for the families of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems. May be provided with or without the child present. |

Family Training Groups
Curriculum based specialized family training for the biological, foster and adoptive families of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and/or substance abuse problems. |

Psychiatric Assessments
Provided by a Board Certified Psychiatrist with experience in child and adolescent mental health/substance abuse. |

Nursing Assessments and Health Services
Health/Nursing assessments and monitoring services provided by nurses licensed by the State of Georgia. Services also include Nutritional assessment and patient education. |

Substance Abuse Counseling/Training
Provided by a certified Substance Abuse Professional through prevention education for youth and adolescents in an effort to maintain knowledge regarding substance related disorders, and to develop strategies to prevent the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, violence, and to prevent HIV/AIDS, and STDs. |

Community Support Individual (CSI)
Community-based support and training for youth requiring additional services in order to successfully transition back into the community or avoid out-of-home placement. |

Crisis Intervention
Services directed toward the support of a child who is experiencing an abrupt and substantial change in behavior, marked by severe impairment of functioning or an increase in personal distress; Provided by a Mental health Professional or a CSI under the documented supervision of an MHP. |
